The Dalmore 12 Year Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky – 700ml
A Royal Heritage in Every Glass: The Definitive Highland Malt.
Experience the profound complexity and exceptional smoothness of The Dalmore 12 Year Old, the cornerstone of the prestigious Dalmore range. Adorned with the iconic 12-pointed Royal Stag emblem, this 700ml bottle represents a legacy of masterful whisky creation dating back to 1839. A dram of The Dalmore is a luxurious experience, perfect for celebrating moments of achievement or for savouring in quiet contemplation.
Forged by a King’s Decree: The iconic silver stag on every bottle of The Dalmore commemorates an act of valour from 1263, when the first chieftain of the Mackenzie Clan saved King Alexander III from a charging stag. In gratitude, the King granted the clan the right to use this royal emblem. When the Mackenzie family took ownership of the distillery in 1867, they brought with them this noble crest, which has since stood as a guarantee of quality.
The Art of Multi-Cask Maturation: Crafted in a stunning coastal location on the shores of the Cromarty Firth in the Northern Highlands, The Dalmore 12 is a masterpiece of cask curation. Its character is developed through a unique two-stage maturation process:
- Stage 1: The spirit is first matured for nine years in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, which lay a foundation of soft vanilla, honey, and citrus notes.
- Stage 2: The spirit is then carefully divided. Half remains in the ex-bourbon barrels, while the other half is transferred to exclusive, aged Oloroso sherry casks from the renowned González Byass bodega in Spain.
After a further three years, the spirits are reunited to create a harmonious and perfectly balanced single malt of incredible depth and finesse, far beyond its 12 years of age.
Tasting Notes:
- Aroma: A complex and inviting bouquet of citrus fruits, aromatic spices, and rich chocolate.
- Palate: An elegant and rich palate opens with the taste of Seville oranges and dried fruits, followed by distinctive hints of vanilla pods and toffee.
- Finish: A long and satisfying finish with lingering notes of roasted coffee and dark chocolate.
A Luxurious Serve: To fully appreciate its intricate character, The Dalmore 12 is best enjoyed neat, perhaps with a single large ice cube to gently chill the spirit. It is a whisky that commands respect and rewards the discerning drinker with every sip.
